Joseph Anthony Connor. Bsc (Hons), MBA, FRSA
Joseph Anthony Connor (J.A.C) aims to create art that instils an emotional connection with the places depicted. He leads a new movement of landscape artists’ dedicated to painting outside using digital devices. He is recognised as the market leader, and is the only ‘En Plein-Air artist’ in this year’s Top 100 Lumen Digital Art prize judged by representatives from the V&A, Artes Mundi, Wired Magazine, Royal Cambrian Academy, LA Times & Time Magazine. His work and practice have also been featured by BBC, NBC, Tourist Boards, Outdoor Media and the Ramblers Association.
J.A.C has a readily identifiable style; it expresses the wonder and life affirming qualities of the natural world he so passionately enjoys. He paints with tools that normally create a virtual barrier between people and nature: mobile digital devices. His success and profile has led to traditional landscape artists taking up mobile digital painting, with some commentators remarking this movement as the origins of 21st Century ‘En-Plein-Air’ art. This said, his primary aim is to inspire everyone to take their mobile digital devices ‘for a walk’ and use them to render and share the emotions they experience in open spaces.
